Choosing AI video tools for ads
What ad creative needs that general video generation does not, and how to assemble a stack rather than hunting for one tool.
No single tool covers ad creative. A synthetic-actor tool for the talking hook, a generation tool for product and scene footage, an editor to assemble. Expecting one product to do all three is the common and expensive mistake.
What ads need that general generation does not
- Variation volume. Testing needs a dozen versions, not one perfect cut.
- Vertical framing. 9:16 is the default for the placements that matter.
- The product appearing exactly right, which means image-to-video rather than description.
- A hook in the first second. Generation does not solve this; the edit does.
- Speed of iteration, because winners are found by testing.
The two shapes of AI ad
- Someone talking to camera. The UGC hook that dominates paid social. A purpose-built synthetic-actor tool does this far better than prompting a general model — generating a convincing talking human is the hardest case in the category.

Measure cost per usable ad
